Project: Complete Website Redesign

The Pulse Medical website had not been updated in at least 10 years. It was unattractive, outdated and, most of all, unresponsive.

A New Website Is Needed

Pulse Medical, Inc. is a small Blue Ridge, Georgia-based manufacturer and retailer of supplies for the radiation and medical industries. The company sells hanging racks, protective eyewear and other related products. But it specializes in producing custom-made lead aprons in a wide variety of sizes and fabrics. To capitalize on this, they wanted an online tool that would allow customers to design and order their own lead aprons and thyroid collars, and see the results in real time. They have several larger competitors that also offer this website functionality. However, as a small mom-and-pop operation, their budget would not allow custom-designed website software.

For ease of use, we set up the new website on the WordPress platform. The Woocommerce plugin handles e-commerce orders, including UPS/FedEx shipping, sales tax processing and credit card payments tied in with their current bank service. Customer service reps can access the orders on the back-end for simple production and fulfillment.

We worked with the client to re-organize products and categories, plus write new descriptive copy for each item. The most difficult part of the website design, however, was the DYI lead apron customizer. After extensive research, we found a plugin that we could tweak to meet our need for a design tool. We used Photoshop to create the “models” for each lead apron style, and then added all the fabric, binding and embroidery choices. It took more time than expected, but in the end, the client was thrilled with the look and functionality of their new website.

Pulse continues to retain our services to maintain and update the website as needed.
